By an oversight it has not been explained to members how their membership fee is used. BEIRC has a long lease from Robin and Hilary Austin who own the property. BEIRC pay to the owners a rent of 90% of the membership fee and the remainder goes into general funds for BEIC's share of the upkeep of the property. This includes a share of the electricity and water and the cleaning of the members room and toilets. The monies raised from competitions is also used for upkeep and improvements such as the outdoor arena surface, watering and harrowing of the indoor arena, the mirrors and a top up of rubber required in the Autumn.
